Disney Fantasy Christening Night 3/1/12

We arrived at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal Pier 88 around 6pm.  My husband and I took a picture in front of the Fantasy Christening sign before we boarded the ship. When we boarded the ship we stayed in the atrium; champagne was flowing. Hors d’oeuvres were being served. Everyone was asked around 6:45pm to proceed to the Walt Disney Theatre.

The Entertainment Showcase started with Neil Patrick Harris who was our host.  He sung spoofs of Disney tunes, danced and told jokes.  He really is an all-around performer.  Loved him!

Then we had another surprise…..Jerry Seinfeld was introduced.   He did a stand-up routine. Jerry is still very funny and relatable.  Loved him!

Heather Headley sung three Disney love songs. She originated the role of Nala in The Lion King, the Broadway musical. You can tell why she is a Tony Award Winner. Loved her!

After the show we moved back to the Atrium for the actual Christening.  Disney CEO Bob Iger, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs and Mickey introduced Mariah Carey as the Godmother of the Fantasy.  On the outside was Mariah Carey’s
husband Nick Cannon and Minnie Mouse.  They broke a bottle of champagne against the ship’s hull.

Around 8:15pm we were directed to our dining locations.  Travel partners dined in the Royal Court.  We enjoyed an Appetizer Sampler of Lobster and Shrimp, Smoked Salmon Tartare and Ahi Tuna with Avocado.   We had a choice of Entrees which included Mushrooms-Glazed Portobello, Crispy Roasted Duck Breast, Pan-Seared Sea Bass, Oregano Parmesan Crusted Rack of Lamb or the Angus Grilled Beef Tenderloin with Lobster Tail.  Everyone at our table chose the Beef and Lobster Tail.  It was tasty and cooked just right.  For dessert we had a Sweet Temptation Trio: Mini Lava Cake, Celebration Cake and a Tahitian Vanilla Crème Brulee.

After dinner we enjoyed the Europa Entertainment District until 11:30pm.  The Europa Entertainment District which is only for adults consists of La Piazza a Italian themed lounge,  O’Gills Pub the Irish bar,  Ooh La La a lounge with a French boudoir motif, Skyline a cocktail lounge with views of the world’s most famous cities. And of course…the Tube nightclub that is sure to get you up and dancing.

We were treated to a royal night on the Fantasy!
